Are The Results Of Blepharoplasty Permanent?
People say that your eyes are the windows to your soul, and whether or not that is true, your eyes are definitely one of the first things that people notice about you. Yet for some Houston men and women, the skin around their eyes is sagging and drooping so much that they look tired, aging and older than they actually are. Other Houston residents have skin around their eyes that droops so much it actually obstructs their vision. If you’re a Houston resident who is suffering from one of these conditions, it’s easy to understand that you might be embarrassed by the first impression you are making. Luckily, there is a procedure called blepharoplasty, or an eyelift, that can correct sagging and drooping skin around the eye and give you a more youthful facial appearance as well as the ability to see completely out of your eyes again. Houston plastic surgeons Dr. Fusi & Dr. Craig are skilled at blepharoplasty and have written this blog post to help you better understand the procedure as well as its long-lasting results.
Blepharoplasty Explained.
Blepharoplasty is a cosmetic surgery that can be performed on the upper eyelid, lower eyelid or both. It’s a procedure in which sagging, droopy skin and excess fatty pads of tissues are sometimes removed to give you a more youthful look and remove any skin that may be obstructing your vision. And best yet, when blepharoplasty is performed, the incisions are made in your eyelid creases, preventing you from developing any unsightly scars and making your eyebrow lift appear all the more natural.
Is Blepharoplasty a Permanent Procedure?
Houston residents who are considering blepharoplasty are often very pleased to hear that the procedure rarely needs to be performed again. Once you’ve undergone a blepharoplasty, you will likely not need a revision. However, if you do develop additional droopy or sagging skin as you continue to age, it can likely be corrected with a brow lift.
Am I a Good Candidate for Blepharoplasty?
If you have sagging or droopy skin around your eyes, under eye bags or skin that obstructs your vision, you may be a good candidate for blepharoplasty if:
- You are in good general health;
- You are a non-smoker, or promise to quit smoking 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after your blepharoplasty procedure as smoking can complicate both the surgery and recovery time;
- You have realistic expectations of the surgery and expected results; and
- You are in good psychological health.
